The layout is flexible, but owner complaints confirm that no rack arrangement suits every crockery collection.
Its 44dB rating is appropriate for many open-plan homes, although the LG is quieter on paper. Water use is an efficient 11 litres per cycle with a 5.5-star WELS rating, while energy efficiency is rated at four stars. EcoSilence Drive supports the quiet positioning, AquaStop adds leak protection and Home Connect provides remote status and controls. Wi-Fi is convenient, not a reason by itself to choose a dishwasher.
Drying uses a heat exchanger rather than an auto-opening door. ExtraDry can improve the result, but plastics may still emerge damp and the option can add time or energy demand. Buyers who prioritise automatic door opening should compare the Beko and LG.

SelfDry automatically opens the door at the end of the cycle to release humid air. That can materially improve drying, especially for plastics, though the door's path, surrounding cabinetry and Beko's installation guidance need to be respected. AquaIntense targets a high-pressure cleaning zone, Hygiene Intense raises cleaning intensity, and Quick & Shine offers a 58-minute daily program.
At 43dBA it is slightly quieter on paper than the Bosch. Water use is higher at 13 litres per cycle, although it still holds a 5-star WELS rating and 4-star energy rating. Public CHOICE data lists a two-year warranty, extending to five years when registered under the stated terms; buyers should confirm the current registration conditions.

The matte-black XD2A25MB is rated at 40dBA, a meaningful advantage when the dishwasher sits near a living or dining area. It is not literally silent, and real sound depends on installation and load, but 40dBA is an unusually quiet manufacturer rating for a freestanding model.
QuadWash uses multi-motion spray arms, while TrueSteam is designed to reduce water spots and improve treatment of stubborn residue. Auto Open Dry releases steam after the cycle. EasyRack Plus, a height-adjustable cutlery rack, wine-glass rack and tub lighting provide the loading flexibility expected at this price. The 15-place design uses 11.1 litres per cycle, with 5.5-star WELS, 4-star energy and a stated 246kWh per year.
AquaStop adds leak protection. ThinQ connectivity can provide cycle status and connected functions, but touch controls and apps also add complexity some owners will never use. The product warranty is two years, with separate additional motor-parts coverage under LG's wording—not a ten-year whole-product warranty. The premium is easiest to justify for buyers who care about low noise, the black finish and the combined drying and loading system.

What matters when buying a dishwasher
Freestanding is not built-under
Freestanding, built-under and fully integrated models are not interchangeable labels. Measure cavity width, height and depth, check hose and door clearance, confirm the kickboard arrangement and never assume the top can be removed.
Drying changes the daily experience
Condensation and heat-exchanger systems can leave plastics wetter than buyers expect. Auto-opening doors release humid air and can materially improve drying, but cabinetry clearance and the manufacturer's steam-path guidance still matter.
Rack layout beats headline capacity
Place-setting numbers are standardised shorthand, not a picture of your plates, bowls and cookware. Take note of tine spacing, folding supports, upper-rack adjustment and tall-glass clearance. A flexible 15-place machine may suit you better than a cramped 16-place design.
Cutlery tray or basket?
A third tray frees space in the lower basket and separates utensils well, but can reduce clearance above the middle rack. A removable basket is simpler and can be positioned around large cookware. Neither is universally better.
Noise matters in open-plan homes
Ratings around 40–44dBA are meaningfully quiet for a kitchen connected to living space. A few decibels can matter, but installation, floor and cabinetry affect perceived sound. No dishwasher with pumps, spraying water and drainage is literally silent.
Read warranties precisely
Separate the whole-product parts-and-labour warranty from long motor-parts, tub-rust or compressor cover. Those extensions can be useful, but they do not mean every component and service call is covered for ten years. Australian Consumer Law rights also apply.
WELS and energy ratings are useful when comparing machines of similar capacity, but tiny annual differences should not be exaggerated into dramatic lifetime savings. A dishwasher that loads well and cleans reliably is more valuable than chasing one specification in isolation.
Why isn't a Miele in the final three?
CHOICE named Miele its best dishwasher brand for 2026, ahead of Bosch, and that result deserves real weight. The current G 5210 SC Active Plus adds AutoOpen, QuickPowerWash, a 3D MultiFlex tray, 45dB operation, 4.5-star energy and 6-star water efficiency, but it also costs roughly $1,979 on promotion or $2,199 at normal direct pricing. Miele-hosted owner evidence is about 4.0–4.2/5 from roughly 33–41 reviews, while ProductReview's current evidence is materially weaker at about 2.7/5. Feedback includes reluctant power-button response, occasional AutoOpen behaviour and service or installation experiences. Miele remains a highly credible premium brand; this exact freestanding model did not create a clean enough product-level case to displace the Bosch, Beko or distinctly quieter LG.
Other serious contenders
ASKO offers premium construction and several current models with strong cleaning and quietness feedback, but independent Australian evidence on some current ranges—including DBI565-series complaints—is mixed. At current pricing it did not produce a stronger general recommendation than Bosch.
Fisher & Paykel has a large Australian range, but DishDrawer products use a meaningfully different architecture and should not be treated as interchangeable with conventional full-size freestanding machines. Its conventional candidates did not produce a cleaner evidence-and-value case than the finalists.
Samsung has weaker current Australian freestanding evidence than the selected models. The older DW60M6055FS/SA carries a low manufacturer-hosted owner score of about 2.9/5.
Which one should you buy?
For most households, choose the Bosch SMS6HCI02A at around $1,300. It is the most balanced combination of flexible loading, efficiency, low noise, current availability and mature exact-model evidence.
Choose the Beko BDFB1630X when value matters most. It gives you 16-place capacity and auto-open drying for much less, although its small independent range sample is significantly more negative than its large syndicated retailer pool.
Choose the LG XD2A25MB when a genuinely quiet open-plan kitchen, auto-open drying and premium loading features justify the extra spend—and you accept that exact-model owner evidence is still extremely limited.
