Serious contenders and alternatives
Bosch WNA254U3AU: is the compact-depth and warranty alternative. Its 10kg wash, 5kg dry capacity and current five-year Bosch warranty are attractive, but the 50% ratio limits continuous loads.
Electrolux EWW1242R9WCS: offers a useful 12kg/8kg ratio, IntelliDose and premium fabric-care features. Its 2-star dry-energy rating weakens the premium ownership case beside LG.

The 8kg drying limit is about 67% of its 12kg wash capacity, a much more useful relationship than older 10kg/5kg designs. It reaches 1400rpm, carries 5-star wash energy and WELS ratings, and adds AI Wash, AI Wash & Dry, TurboClean360, steam, wrinkle care, Dry Only and ThinQ controls.

The drying system is conventional integrated condenser drying—not heat pump. LG's rated data lists 110L of water for drying and a 3.5-star dry-energy rating, so it should not be described as waterless or highly efficient beside Samsung's heat-pump architecture.
The body is 600mm wide and 850mm high. Its 615mm cabinet depth becomes about 655mm with the closed-door overhang and roughly 1135mm with the door open to 90 degrees. Hoses, rear clearance and access space still need to follow the exact installation guide.
Warranty context
LG provides two years parts and labour plus eight additional years of parts cover on the Inverter Direct Drive motor. That is not a ten-year full-machine warranty.

Extended product analysis
IntelliQuick can wash up to 10kg in 45 minutes under applicable conditions; it is not a full-capacity wash-and-dry claim. WashDry 60 and DuvetCare 60 also have program-specific restrictions that should not be generalised to every load.
The 600 × 850 × 659mm body is not genuinely shallow, and Appliances Online advises allowing about 150mm additional depth for hoses and connections. SensorWash, UltraMix, CareDrum, HygienicCare, Sanitise, DelicatesPlus, Woolmark Blue, Wi-Fi and auto-sensing dry broaden everyday usefulness.
Warranty context

Its 10-star dry-energy rating is the premium advantage, but the 10kg dry capacity is only about 51% of the 19.5kg wash capacity. It is also physically exceptional at 686mm wide, 1110mm high, 875mm deep and 145kg.

Samsung combines AI Wash & Dry+, auto detergent dispense, a 7-inch display, SmartThings, AI Energy Mode, BubbleWash, Air Wash, Auto Open Door, lint filtration and auto condenser cleaning. Smart features are secondary to fit, capacity and drying efficiency.
The advertised 68-minute wash-and-dry time applies to a 3kg test load under specified laboratory conditions—not 19.5kg. Maximum spin is 1100rpm, but that number should not be isolated from the heat-pump drying architecture.
Evidence and warranty context
Samsung's page includes incentivised reviews and reviews originally posted against other washer-dryer models, so those pools are not treated as exact WD90H19AHSSA reliability evidence. Full appliance cover is 24 months; the ten-year limited parts cover is for the Digital Inverter Motor on eligible purchases.

Buying advice
Start with the dry capacity
For unattended wash-to-dry cycles, load to the program's drying limit. LG's 12kg/8kg ratio is the most balanced here; Samsung has the largest absolute dry capacity but the lowest percentage relationship.
Separate wash and dry ratings
Wash energy, dry energy and WELS answer different questions. LG and Electrolux lead on wash ratings; Samsung's heat-pump architecture leads decisively on drying energy.
Measure more than the cavity
Check width, height, cabinet depth, hose space, door projection, power and water access, ventilation requirements and the full delivery path. Samsung will not fit many standard laundry cavities.
Think about throughput
A combo uses one drum, so it cannot wash the next load while drying the first. Large households with room for separate appliances may get faster total throughput from a washer plus heat-pump dryer.
Compare cycle claims carefully
Fast-cycle headlines use different loads and test conditions. A short wash claim is not automatically a short full-capacity wash-and-dry cycle.
Install and maintain it correctly
Remove transport bolts, connect water and drainage exactly as instructed, use solid level flooring, maintain specified clearances and do not exceed wash or dry limits. Clean filters, detergent areas, the door seal and drum according to the exact manual, disconnecting power where instructed.
Which washer dryer combo should you buy?
Buy the LG WXC10-1412W for the best mainstream balance. Buy the Electrolux EWW1043R7WCS for value and fabric care in a smaller household. Buy the Samsung WD90H19AHSSA when large-family capacity, frequent drying and heat-pump efficiency justify its exceptional size and price.
Frequently asked questions
Are washer dryer combos worth buying?
They can be worthwhile when one floor footprint and unattended wash-to-dry convenience matter more than maximum throughput. Separate machines remain more practical for many high-volume households.
Can a combo dry the same load it washes?
Only when the load stays within the selected program's drying limit. A 12kg/8kg machine cannot automatically dry a full 12kg wash load as one uninterrupted load.
Do washer dryer combos use water while drying?
Many conventional condenser combos do. LG lists 110L under its rated drying test. Samsung uses heat-pump drying and should not be assumed to operate like a conventional water-condensing combo.
Is a heat-pump washer dryer combo better?
It can be much more efficient for drying, but size, purchase price, capacity ratio and installation fit still matter. Samsung's 10-star drying is excellent, but the machine is exceptionally large and heavy.
How long does a washer dryer combo take?
It depends on load, fabric, selected program, moisture and drying target. Manufacturer quick-cycle claims use specific test loads and should not be generalised to full capacity.
Do I need special installation?
Follow the exact manual. The machine needs correct water, drainage, electrical supply, levelling, transport-bolt removal and specified clearances. Large models also require careful delivery-path planning.
